Important Registration Information for Spanish

3/3/2010      Dear Students:
Now that Advanced Registration is almost upon us, I want to take this opportunity to remind students in Spanish 116 and Spanish 213 that there is a continuation requirement for the subsequent courses in Spanish.
To register for the on-campus version of Spanish 213, Spanish Grammar, students must have received a grade of a “B or better” in Spanish 116. Students seeking admission to Spanish 215, 223, or 233 must have received a “B or better” in Spanish 213.
Because the continuation requirement was implemented in the fall of 2010, students who took Spanish 116 or 213 before the spring of 2010, and did not earn a B or better in those courses will be permitted to continue and complete their sequences in the on-campus or ISU online courses.
These continuation requirements only apply to courses taught on campus. If a student wishes to enroll in any of the qualifying study abroad programs, he or she may do so to receive equivalent credit to these two courses.
If you have any questions, you may write me (jjpancr@ilstu.edu) directly or contact Ms. Laura Edwards (lcedwar@ilstu.edu).
Sincerely,
Dr. Pancrazio

To Spanish minors (declared or undeclared):

At this point during registration, many Spanish classes have been major blocked. This means that only Spanish majors will be able to register for those classes. Due to high enrollments, it may not be possible for Spanish minors to be accommodated in Spanish classes on campus. If you are unable to enroll in the course you desire, please consider opportunities in our study abroad programs.

There are no waiting lists or available overrides at this time. An email announcement will be sent when the major blocks are removed on the foreign languages list-serv. Any remaining seats will be open on a first come, first served basis.

Please direct any questions to Dr. James Pancrazio (jjpancr@ilstu.edu) or Advisor Laura Edwards (lcedwar@ilstu.edu).
