Final Exam

The final exam is comprehensive and includes a listening comprehension section. The day of the final exam will be December 6, 2008 at 10 a.m. (Location TBA). The listening comprehension section of the final will be held IN CLASS on Thursday, December 4.  If you have a conflict, you will need to provide your instructor with an official note describing the reason for requesting an excused absence before December 1, 2008.  Only officially proven excuses such as an athletic event, military duty, etc., will be accepted and taken into consideration for a possible make-up. If you miss the final exam because you slept in or forgot, you will need to contact your instructor within 24 hours of the day and time of the exam and you may be able to make up the final exam with a penalty of 10%.

NO MAKE-UP EXAMS WILL BE GIVEN UNLESS AN ACCEPTABLE EXCUSE IS PROVIDED.

If a student misses an hourly exam or the final exam because of a medical emergency, he/she will have to provide a written excuse from his/her doctor to the instructor who will arrange a make-up session. For any other type of excuse, the student will talk to the instructor, who will make the final decision on a possible make-up session.

Quizzes

Each quiz will evaluate the comprehension of the material studied in class, in the workbook, and in the textbook. Quizzes will typically be short exercises covering vocabulary, a specific grammar point or content from the readings. Quizzes will be announced in class, and your lowest quiz grade will be dropped at the end of the semester. Some elements will come directly from the workbook.
